Service Description

An opportunity to learn an ancient Tibetan meditation practice in person or via zoom. Shiné is a traditional Tibetan Shamatha Meditation which is peaceful and powerful at the same time. It aims to calm our mind and train it in a way so that it transforms from its usual active and agitated state into a calm and clear one that gradually allows for awareness to arise. As a result, our mind becomes more peaceful and less disturbed by both internal factors like thoughts and emotions, and external factors, like a stressful environment. We will start with re-familarising ourselves with basic awareness and then move to the 5 stages of mental progression from the Kalachakra tradition. We will move gradually through the Shine method of the 9 stages of calm abiding, the obstacles and antidotes. Each session will be roughly 1.5 hours starting at 6:15 pm (UK time). The dates are as follows: Feb 20 March 20 April 24 June 12 provisional * Sept 11 provisional * Oct 16 provisional * Nov 6 provisional * The class will be a hybrid of people in the studio and people on zoom. The zoom link will be sent out to you when you book. The provisional dates will be confirmed by May 1 and zoom recordings will be made available to those that cannot attend a session. However, for a session to run there will need to be 6 attendees. If you are joining for the first time Jane will send you an assessment form to complete. If you are not on the Sheepdrove Mindfulness Whats App group please ask Jane to add you as some meditations will be recorded and sent out via Whats App. Also, if there is something wrong with the Zoom link on the day, a new link will be sent via that group. If you are curious and want to know more before joining, please contact Jane. It is recommended that participants have already completed a meditation course or mindfulness course to get the most out of this more advanced course. If you are a complete beginner to meditation, please speak to Jane before enrolling.
