  • 8 week Mindfulness for Health Course

This 8 week course at 7 pm every Wednesday evening from October 11th (in person or via zoom) contains mindfulness and compassion techniques. The effectiveness of this course has been demonstrated in a number of scientific trials. Clinical trials have shown that mindfulness meditation can be as effective as prescription painkillers, and can enhance the body’s natural healing systems. Mindfulness can also reduce the anxiety, depression, irritability, exhaustion, and insomnia that arises from chronic pain and illness. This course has been backed with huge amounts of research, and changed the lives of thousands of people. You will learn more about how our minds work, and how this impacts on our everyday lives and how we cope (or not) with pain, stress and difficulty. The course can help you learn to respond to your difficulties with awareness and compassion rather than reacting out of habit, fear or pain. It can help you to develop resilience, calm and creativity in how you respond to life. By the end of the course you will have the tools to manage whatever your body and mind throws at you and to live well. The course will be based on Vidyamala Burch's book Mindfulness for Health. You will need a copy of the book to look at before and during and hopefully after the course. Jane has several copies she can lend you. During the course (and to gain the benefits of the course) you will need to commit to regular home practice of a minimum 20 minutes per day. It best split into 2 x 10 minute daily practices. The course will run in 8 consecutive weeks on Wednesday evenings staring on October 11 at 7 pm. It will be offered in person and online via Zoom - let Jane know if you will attend in person or via zoom. An automated zoom link - the same for every week will be sent out to everyone when they book. You will also be asked to completed a Breathworks registration form and Consent form before the start of the course. At the end of the course you will be asked to complete an Evaluation form. If you would like to chat to Jane before booking on the course please contact her on to arrange a mutually convenient time to hook up! The course is part of Jane's Advanced Teacher Training with Breathworks and the reduced fee reflects this.
