We are delighted to welcome Richard back to teach at Sheepdrove and share his extensive knowledge of pranayama Sunday 27 AUGUST 11.00am - 1.00pm & 3.00pm - 5.00pm Monday 28 AUGUST 10:00 am- 12.00 pm SUNDAY 27 AUGUST The workshop will start with asking What is asana? We will explore components of the embodiment - body, mind and breath. Their role in beginners’ learning. Association and connectivity of body, mind and breath in asana with examples. How breath and mind variations occur in asanas. Supine preparation and Sitting preparation. What is svasayama and how does this help us understand pranayama? Examples of approaches to breath in both supine and sitting asanas. Basic approaches to svasayama/pranayama. Use of exhalation and inhalation and the pauses in between. How do they relate to thought processes? Supine preparation and Sitting preparation. MONDAY 28 AUGUST We will look at sensitivity and activity in breath and breathing. Improving sensitivity to breath and breathing. Concept of elements and the contribution of breath. How breath for the elements helps asana and pranayama. What are the prana kriyas? Use of silent sound in breath work. Suitable for those with a consistent Iyengar yoga practice of 2 years plus
